Injuries
Yup the news we all feared - Simon Jones is out of the tour to Pakistan. It is a shame that everytime Simon looks to be heading in the right direction he hits a roadblock. Lets just hope this is a minor one, and he is back on his feet in time for the tour to India. In his absence, the stage is set for James Anderson to re-ignite his once promising test career.
Chris Tremlett, who was 12th man for most of this summer test, has also not recovered from his niggling injuries and has been replaced by up-and-coming Durham pacemen, Liam Plunkett. Plunkett is already in the ODI squad, and it will be interesting to see how he fares in English colours. Certainly England's depth in bowling stocks will be tested on this tour.
Awards
Freddie Flintoff received the much deserved award for the Player of the Year - which he will share jointly with Jacques Kallis, whom we will not be quick to forget after his stellar series last year against England.
Kevin 'KP' Pietersen was also given the 'Emerging player' award for the best new player. He also managed to win over model, Caprice, to top off a great year for the man.
Super Series
England have three players take part in the controversial super series in which a rest of the world side took on Australa. England's players had a mixed series, with only Flintoff only making worthwhile contributions. Harmison, chipped in with some key wickets in the test, while KP's tour was curtailed by injury. All in all, a big a disappointment for the ICC, with the cricket failing to live up to the post-Ashes hype.
