Q. can you tell us if any replacements are going to be sent to replace akhtar .
have you heard anything about these 2 young pacers from pindi, rizwan akbar and yaseen bari, any views on them.
A. Salam and Morning from Sunny Sydney !
I am not sure actually, I have just sent a text to Shoaibi's mobile to see if he is up yet, he isnt answering his room fone as its on DND.
There is nothing being mentioned, but when I see Haroon I will ask him or Inzi whoever comes first.
I know of them both, but they are raw and fast medium, they wont replace Shoaib. I will be speaking to Sami if he doesnt ring me to wish him Eid Mubarak, and see if they have been in touch with him maybe going back to Oz/???
Q. do you think qaiser abbas, irshaad or s nazir have a chance to be called up.
do you think q abbas has improved since his debut test.
A. I personally dont rate Qaiser, but thats my own view.
Q. Any chance of seeing Shahid Nazir?
A. I would love to see Shahid going to India, and if he takes a few wickets in the ABN AMRO cup, then he is only pushing his case. Irshad;s case is or was mentioned in Melbourne when there were some injuries, but saying that Wasim Khans name was mentioned too and he isnt up to this level either. Arshad Khan and Tahir Khan (karachis off spinner) was close to being called into the squad. I think Arshad will get a recall for India.
Q. What is Hafeez planning to do about his action?
A. Well he will be assessed in Perth at the university of WA by all accounts.
The report hasnt got to Hafeez yet, so when he gets it maybe I will get to have a look and hope to let you then thereafter
Q. Is anyone considering to replace any of the current players for the Indian series? If so, then who do they have in mind?
A. No I did speak to Inzi about it last nite in his room, but Haroon was there and we didnt go into depth.
Also there is a strong rumour that the PCB chairman is about to change....Some people are waiting for that.
Q. do you thing the team will bring taufeeq into side or has akmal found his permenant position.
how serious were the management about bringing in irshad
A. Re Irshad his name was mentioned that was all.
The other 2 are seamers and thats about it they need time otherwise they will be exposed at the highest level. There is no quality seamer in Pak right now, I have said it so many times.
I am disappointed in Hafeez as much as he is in himself. Against Oz he was given out, and I was away from the press box in the last game, so didnt see his dismissal nor look at the highlights. He started off well with a 60 and his feet seemed to be moving well. Whether he is like a rabbit in front of headlights I dont know. He has the backing of Inzi right now.
Q. Just wanted to ask you a quick question about Shoiab as there have been many theories to account for his hamstring injuries this tour - in your opinion, what is the problem? Not warming up, sudden stops in follow thru?
Secondly how well do you rate Inzi's captaincy as in my opinion, at times he lets the game float away from him and we seem to lose momentum because of it.
A. feel Inzis captaincy is quite poor at time, and he misses a trick when he has the other team on the rack like he had in the first test but then we also had a lack of depth in our bowling....
To be a skipper of our national team, I feel you have to be a bit clever and sharp, almost crooked like in your thoughts, as thieves and crooks try to think 1 step ahead.....His demaeanour and presence is not strong but laid back as we all know. Maybe with the passage of time he will improve, he has to with the Indian and WI series around the corner, but there are things Waqar adn I see that we say wud work but sometimes are puzzled that why didnt he think that or do something like that.
The theories abt Shoaib are there for all to see. He is a good friend of mine and we go back some time so I wud rather not go into too much. Apart from that he feels or felt that he had to take the burden for the series whilst Sami didnt pull his weight....Now Sami is related to me, and he says that he didnt get the best ends to work with and had to bowl long spells due to lack of a good 3rd seamer (true) and also just cudnt come back to get the tail out as he was tired (true) also. Plus at Melbourne his heel was starting to get very bloodied....
Shoaib is also going to be injury probe with a long run and explosive follow thru. His shoes are also a problem for him, and I know he is having 2 more pairs purposely built at over 450 pounds a pair. He isnt a natural athlete.
