Captain Hussain Amongst Hollioake Mourners

England captain Nasser Hussain was among the mourners for Ben Hollioake (left) at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Fremantle, Western Australia. He carried with him Hollioake's England blazer.

Hussain travelled to the memorial service as the representative of the England team currently touring New Zealand, as it was deemed too difficult to arrange flights for other team members at such short notice.

In an emotional private service held back in New Zealand, Hollioake's Surrey team-mate Mark Butcher played his guitar and sang a song as the team remembered Hollioake.

A number of Hollioake's Surrey team-mates made the journey from England to Australia to pay their last respects to a man described by all that knew him as "youthful" and "a top guy". His brother and team-mate Adam was of course at the service, and said of his younger brother, "We can all imagine each other with grey hair and walking sticks, but I could only imagine Ben as being both athletic and youthful".

A truly sad day, and a great loss not only to cricket but to the Hollioake family, and to all that knew Ben.

Our thoughts are with his family, and the family of his young girlfriend, who unfortunately is still in a "critical but stable" condition in hospital.
