Aravinda de Silva has been recalled by the Sri Lanka selectors to tour England this coming summer. They will play three tests against the hosts, and will compete in the triangular series between themselves, England and India.

De Silva To Tour England

Sri Lanka's selectors have announced that they will recall the country's greatest ever batsman, Aravinda De Silva, for the forthcoming trip to England.

The prominent middle-order batsman has not played a test match since England toured Sri Lanka in 2000/01, after first falling out of favour with the selectors, and then being deemed unfit.

He has however got himself fit enough to be considered, and will be hoping to build on his test average of 41 (19 centuries and 21 fifties). In the one day game, he averages a shade about 35 (11 hundreds and 57 fifties), and will be hoping to better this in the triangular tournament between hosts England, Sri Lanka and the Indians.

Discuss the forthcoming tour, or anything else to do with English Cricket on the message board.
