Sting In The Tail is pleased to announce our first ever End Of Season Awards. Suggested by message board contributor DJ Oti, following a thread started by Adam Harchuk, we are pleased to take up their idea.

The categories are as follows:

  • Batsman of the season
  • Bowler of the season
  • Fielder of the season
  • Wicketkeeper of the season
  • Best all-rounder of the season
  • Best youngster
  • Paid player of the season
  • County player of the season
  • Lifetime achievement

Paid players (contracted or overseas) are NOT eligible for the batsman, bowler, fielder, wicketkeeper and all-rounder categories.
The best youngster category is open to any under 19 player.
The paid player category is open to all contracted and overseas players in the Premier and County Leagues.
The Lifetime Achievement category is open to anyone who deserves to be formally recognised for their contribution to Derbyshire cricket.

Voters can nominate up to three players in each category. The nominees will score five points for first place, three points for second place and one point for third place. You can vote in as many, or as few, categories as you like. The winner of each category will be the player who accumulates the most points.

To vote in each category, voters will have to send in their votes by e-mail using the official form which can be found here. Only one entry per e-mail address please. Multiple entries will be void. The poll will run until the end of October, to give everyone a chance to vote. Regular updates on the state of the voting will be posted on the site.

At the end of October, the winners of each category will be announced. The six nominees who receive the most points from ANY of the categories (except Lifetime Achievement) will go into a Player Of The Year poll which will run throughout November with the winner being announced on December 1st. The winner of the Player of the Year poll will receive a £100 voucher donated by owzat-cricket - Derbyshire’s number 1 cricket equipment specialist.
