Chesterfield skipper David Adams has been voted Sting In The Tail's first ever "Player of the Year". The vote, which took place throughout October and November, was sponsored by owzat-cricket. Adams picks up a £100 cricket voucher from the sponsors.

Adams figured highly in the Premier League's 2002 all-rounder list with a total of 719 runs at an average of 42.29. His 47 wickets came at a cost of 22.36 runs each. He picked up 35% of the vote in the final opinion poll.

Ockbrook and Borrowash's Trevor Smith came second in the poll with 25% of the vote, followed by Quarndon's Gary Myers with 20% The final figures were as follows:
