Once the consulation process was complete with the club’s local sports development network the information was used in two ways:- [i] to inform the design group about the facility requirements. [ii] to allow the club to revise its sports development plan. And prepare a booklet ‘The case for the project’ which would help provide the information needed to complete the official application while providing a document to inform members, associated and funding partners of the scope and impact of the proposal. The Sports Development Plan [SDP] was produced in draft and then revised after a meeting the Derbyshire Cricket Board [DCB] Development Manager Colin Davies. He advised the club to express the plan in terms of ‘outcomes’ rather than a list of proposed activities. The result is detailed below. Meanwhile the design consultant prepared drawings and other documents allowing the club to seek full planning permission for the new facility. This was applied for [fees approximately £125] and granted by Erewash Borough Council at the end of October. It was during this period that the club concluded a new 25 year lease on its pavilion on West Park, Long Eaton. This was the culmination of a protracted process which was fortunately completed at a most convenient moment. The availability of the drawings allowed the club to estimate the funds required to undertake the project and consider a funding plan to obtain the funds. This would provide the focus of the next stage of the project before approaching Sport England East Midlands for a pre-application review of our submission documents. Clubs wishing to obtain a copy of the club’s ‘A Case For The Project’ can send a stamped addressed return envelope [A5] to David Dooley, Lottery Bid Co-ordinator, 45 Dovecote Lane, Beeston, Nottingham.
