Tibshelf all-rounder Shane Matthews destroyed Ashbourne at Newton Road with a fine fifty, followed by five wickets for 45 runs. Tibby ran out easy 61 run winners as the visitors were tumbled out for 84.

Batting first on a hot Sunday afternoon, the big Tibby lads went to work on the Ashbourne attack. Despite a fine bowling performance of 5 for 52 from Andrew Hill, Tibshelf were able to post an average looking 145 all out from 45 overs. Shane Matthews topped scored with 50 and he was ably assisted by Mark Beard (28) and Darren Caunt (26).

During tea, the visitors must have been fairly confident of knocking off the Tibby total, but a lot depended on the batting skills of Dave Gadsby. It wasn't long before Gadsby was lauching into the Tibshelf opening attack of Matthews and Keith Else.

Gadsby raced on to 21 in only 10 balls before he was judged lbw to Else. Gadsby was clearly upset by the decision as he strolled back to the pavilion, but his protestations that he nicked the ball were to no avail. Ashbourne were 24 for 1.

Two runs later, Matthews had Clarke spectacularly caught by Mark Beard who took a breathtaking one handed catch high to his right. Roe, Bembridge and Williams fell cheaply to leave the visitors on 43 for 5, and when Hill was needlessly run out, Tibshelf thought they had the game in the bag.

Tarr and Wood fell in successive balls to Matthews, the latter giving the Tibshelf bowler his fifth wicket to follow his four from Saturday. Not bad for a player bowling off a three pace run-up due to a toe infection. Ashbourne 51 for 8.

Simon Griffiths (26 not out) hung around with Rowland, but when Rowland was bowled by Else for 9, the game was almost over. The number 11 couldn't stick with Griffiths and the final wicket fell with the score on 84 in just 27.3 overs.

Final scores:
Tibshelf (27) 145 all out (Matthews 50, Hill 5-52, Gadsby 3-35) beat Ashbourne (5) 84 all out (Matthews 5-45, Else 4-38) by 61 runs

A great all-round performance from Tibshelf who fielded superbly to complete an excellent double victory weekend. Tibshelf now move into third place in 4 North, and within shouting distance of leaders Stapleford and Shipley Hall 2nds.

With the game finishing early, there was time to nip over to Marehay to see their 3rds beat Codnor 2nds, and enjoy a game of 'Count The Hot-Air Balloons'.

Final scores:
Marehay (22) 143-4 (Bradder 32, Kerry 32) beat Codnor MW (4) 142-9 (Griffin 3-30) by 6 wickets
