Millers' openers 5N onslaught continues
By Alan Rowley
July 7 2003
Millers openers Stuart Mee and Paul Bailey continued to dominate the Division 5 North batting when they remained undefeated again this weekend. On Saturday, it was the turn of South Wingfield 2nds to feel the blunt end of the duo's onslaught.

Wingfield posted a fair total of 180 for 4 at Station Road, but this was no match for Mee and Bailey who steered Langley Mill home with no trouble to finish 10 wicket victors. When victory was achieved, Mee was on 98, and former Premier League batsman Bailey was on 55.

Last week, the pair put on an even more formidable display of hitting as they despatched the Cromford Meadows bowlers to all parts of Langley Mill. The pair put on an unbeaten 288 for the first wicket, far too many for the Meadows who hung on to gain the losing draw. Mee finished on 148 and Bailey on 104 with Mee being particularly vicious, especially after passing his hundred. Meadows ended on 184 for 8.

So, that's 471 for 0 (Mee 246*, Bailey 159*). Next week, they visit Clay Cross - can they carry their bats for a third time?

After a poor start to the 2003 campaign, the Millers have finally got it together and are now pushing for promotion. With the dynamic duo showing no signs of slowing up, who would bet against the Millers gaining a promotion spot by September.
