They declared at 286-5 against Dronfield Woodhouse II with 17 year old Tom Hilton hitting a maiden 105 and Doug Howie making 84 not out. Woodhouse achieved a comfortable draw, however, replying with 200-4 (Flack 103, Drew 48). Hathersage II claimed the second promotion spot by beating Centralians II. Cents were dismissed for 88 thanks to 6-36 from Kevn Rowney. In reply, Hathersage crept to 90-8 despite 4-24 from Verity. Millhouses II triumphed in the battle of the bottom two already relegated sides by skittling Dronfield Sports II for just 35 (Andrew Heaven 7-8) and racing to a nine wicket win. Hundall II bowled out University Staff II for 161 (Alleyne 74 no) and claimed a nine wicket victory (Ian Bayston 69 no, Stephen Bayston 52). Calow made a confident 229-7 (D.Wagstaff 78, P.Lally 6-81) at home to De La Salle II, who were bowled out for 152 (S.Burton 50, P.Scarborough 6-35). BT Pensions / AGD I claimed the Division Four title with a convincing win over Stocksbridge III. Pensions made 219-2 (Dave Tarlton 55 no, Jamie Horton 124 no) and sent back the young Stocksbridge side for just 57 (Mark Hayes 4-18). Richland Wanderers gained the second promotion place, taking maximum points from a forfeited match by Sheffield Transport. In the league's tightest division, Ridgeway were unlucky to miss out on promotion in third, despite beating Coal Aston. Coal Aston were sent back for 127 (Peter Burke 5-23) which Ridgeway passed with eight wickets in hand (Ian Hamilton 56 no). John Hadfield took 5-17 to dismiss Chesterfield Barbarians II for a mere 32 and see Baslow II to an eight wicket victory. Zingari passed BT Pensions / AGD II 92-9 (N.Calvert 41, D.Ward 4-47) with six wickets in hand (P.Harris 44). Great Longstone declared at 205-6 (M.Sayers 56) and restricted Calow II to 158-8 (M.Paulson 52, R.Finney 4-29). On Sunday, Longstone were bowled out for 111 (S.Catchick 65 no, P.Smith 5-30) by BT Pensions / AGD II, who won with five wickets down. With all issues already settled in Division One, it was left to University Staff to provide the shock of the day by defeating champions Hundall. Hundall posted 152-5 but Staff made it to a last ball win and second place with two wickets in hand thanks to 64 from Paul Kerry. Stanton In Peak scored 149-6 in reply to Sheffield Works Department's 189-6 (Ian Lake 63), which saw them fall to third spot. Elsewhere, Parkhead hit a substantial 252-4 (Junaid 150, Brown 61, Campbell 4-98) and dismissed Baslow for 121 (Corbidge 5-43). Dronfield Woodhouse were bowled out for 93 (Pearson 4-43) by Old Edwardians / Collegiate, who won by seven wickets (Parr 42 no). Relegated Stocksbridge signed off with a win making 145-5 (Perry 64 no) against De La Salle, who replied with 113 (Pratt 62, Siddall 4-34). Centralians were sent back for 122 (Somerton 7-37) by H athersage, who claimed a five wicket success (Rhodes 53). The final match in the Division Two programme saw Sheffield Works Department II make 201-8 (M.Burley 85) away at Old Edwardians / Collegiate II, who held out for the draw at 133-9 (T.Leiper 34, D.Sampson 5-20). Second Division champions Holmesfield capped a fine season with victory
over University Staff in the Knockout Cup Final. Holmesfield were dismissed
for 180 (Dave Ward 72, Tom Hamilton 45, Dave Needham 4-44). Ward completed
a fine match by taking 2-27 as Staff were restricted to 173-8 (J.Hibbert
