Poll of the week

But, last week, a month before the season starts, he announced that he was coming out of retirement. If the shock of that wasn't bad enough, he only went and signed for Lancashire.
The question was:
Is David Byas a traitor?
| Yes, how could he do it? | 33% |
| No, good luck to him, | 53% |
| Quite frankly, I don't give a damn | 13% |
This is one of those situation where we will never get to know the full story. Obviously something is not right. Its quite clear that Byas was not ready for retirement so what exactly did go on?
Was there a personality clash between Byas and Gough which ended up with the club having to get rid of one of them? If this was the case, then Byas would have been the most obvious because of his age. Also, when most people think of Yorkshire CCC, they think of Darren Gough. For the club to get rid of Gough would have been a bad publicity move.
I think most Yorkshire followers now realise that something has gone on to cause bad blood between the club and Byas. Byas was reported at the end of last season as saying Darren Gough was not worth bothering about. This was after Darren Gough let his benefit year take priority over team affairs.
What ever has gone on, there is no doubt that David Byas has been a great servant to the club, and of course he is the first player to captain Yorkshire to County Championship success since 1968. He deserves our respect and best of luck, even though he has gone on to sign for the red rose county.
Bring on the 6th of May.
