699 test wickets
The famous leg spinner who bowled the 'ball of the century' to England's Mike Gatting back when he started his test career has decided to call a day on his fabulous career at the end of the ashes series.
The 37 year old is one wicket away from becoming the 1st bowler in test cricket to get 700 test wickets with the fourth Test starting on 26 December.
"I'd like to go out on top. I want to go out on my terms, I'd like to think I've earned that right," Warne said.
The Hampshire favourite has said he'll complete his remaining two years with them but will quit state cricket.
He did also reveal that he would have retired earlier than planned if Australia had won the ashes last time around.
Speaking to a packed out media conference he said;
"There was a burning ambition in the team to win the Ashes back. I saw how much we all hurt after that," he said.
"It was a mission of mine no matter how long it took to get that urn back, no matter how long it took.
"I think you can tell by the way we've played this series and the way I've gone out there and bowled that I've been pretty determined."
Australia are losing one of their greatest ever players and so is cricket.
