What needs to be done?
By Sam Hathaway January 5 2007
The ECB have launched a 'major review' after the terrible performance in the latest ashes series where England lost 5-0. England Cricket Board chief executive David Collier said the series was a "great disappointment" and "a number of lessons must be learned".

The cheif executive has promised that the review would be 'comprehensive and broad ranging.'

ECB directors met on Thursday to discuss the situation and review the teams performance and following the fifth test the ecb released this statement;

"The board unanimously supported the establishment of a comprehensive review and will now meet formally to agree the process and composition of the review team."

The ECB want the review "to determine how Team England performances during the period 2003-7 should be improved in order that England regain the Ashes in 2009 and win an ICC Global One Day Event during the period 2007-11".

Although the review does not mean the end to Duncan Fletchers reign which may annoy a few fans who feel the Zimbabwean's time as England coach is going stale.

The ecb have also said that the objective now is to win the 2009 ashes series on English soil which is ambitious objective after the performance of this series but hopefully we can put it behind us and build for the future.
