Vaughan
An exhausted England side was woken up to the smell of defeat and the realization of the World Cup games to come.
The most promising thing to come out of the game was Vaughan’s score of 62 continued by Ian Bell getting 52. England was, however, all out for 197 with Australia in good form, and so they carried on with a reply of 200 - 5 in 40.5 overs.
England’s Skipper Michael Vaughan explains his thoughts on the game. "We're disappointed with the performance,"
"They put the squeeze on us but we should have got 250 or 260.”
"The key to our innings was one of me or Ian Hell going to a big score. There were some positives but we were well beaten by a good side."
He later added that his hamstring injury, which left him out of the ashes side, had experienced no further problems.
Ricky Ponting was on a high after the win against England and took pleasure in confirming so.
“It was a good solid warm-up and a good result for us, after not a great start we clawed it back.
"At one stage it looked as if they were going to make a big total but our slower bowlers took over, then Gilchrist and Watson set things up.
"It has definitely been a worthwhile outing here."
With the warm up games finished and England ending it with some negatives and positives we can only hope for a better start in our next game.
