Super Eight's Tables
By Tom Bason April 27 2007
Well, who would have though it? A Super-8’s without either Pakistan or India. Both Bangladesh and Ireland deserve huge credit for progressing at the expense of two of the big guns, even though the other 6 will see them as the whipping boys.

However, both will secretly be hoping to emulate Kenya’s shock progression to the Semi’s four years ago. The structure of these stages will make it very difficult for them to progress, with Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies and New Zealand all starting two points better off than the rest. Each of these will feel that they have one foot in the semi-finals. However, this has not been a World Cup without shocks, and while it is unlikely there will be many more in terms of teams progression through the stages, there is every chance that the favourites will slip up once more before the Super 8’s finish, with Ireland especially looking forward to facing a stuttering England side in the first round of matches. This has been a thrilling World Cup so far, and long may it continue.
