THE BATSMEN People who concentrate for hours on trying to hit the little round thing to a place where there isn't a person and preferably along the ground if there is!!! Only at home when at the crease and on strike. Marcus is one of the best with willow in his hand and we hope to see lots of him during this season.

No longer the English VC but probably our county captain in waiting? An issue with international travelling has brought his England career to an end prematurely. He's still one of the best openers in the world and will be for some considerable time to come He will open all year if he is injury free and a number of bowlers will not be happy with that prospect. A massive destruction engine when bowling is poor, he no longer gives any quarter to wide stuff and doesn't sweep after 40 as he used to - unless the ball merits it when his 'slog' sweep is one of the most devastating shots in a large arsenal. We all know that he doesn’t move his feet, but we also all know the destructive power of a bit of wood in his hands if he gets his eye in. He can score quickly and hugely off anyone. He can win you a game in a session and he can be an absolute joy to watch, foot movement or no. Somerset through and through, ‘Banger’ is here for good now and that can never be a bad thing for us. |
