“Wicketkeeper in waiting” would be a good title for Carl and his loyalty to his task has to be commended.
He isn’t yet ready to compete for the first team gloves but he did gain loads of credit last season as a one day pinch hitter and now has a first class hundred to his name.
He is a valuable man to have in reserve, a strength of the second team squad for the foreseeable future. He probably has the advantage over Noddy in the area of batting but he isn’t yet the man behind the sticks to replace the big man.
It will come and credit to him for being willing to wait. |
