Notts TSL2 - "Lean Spell" to end

Officialy, Trent Bridge is where our "promotion campaign" returns to the rails ending our "lean spell". Yeah right. Ian Blackwell returns to a side still being rebuilt from the injury list. Four points would be great but the weather...and the Outlaws may have a thing or two to say about that.

v Nottinghamshire Outlaws TSL2 @ Trent Bridge July 11 2004

Jamie Cox and Ian Blackwell return from injury and England duty respectively to bolster the ranks of Somerset's injury hit one day side as they face Notts on home soil.  The main problem is still the bowling attack we can put out to defend a total and Blackwell's spin could be very useful in that effort.  It is highly likely that the weather may have too much of a say in this one but anything positive that we can take away from the East Midlands would be useful and in our present state even two points for an abandonment would be an improvement!

Blackwell will join a bowling attack of Francis, Laraman, Andrew and Dutch.  There is no indication from the club as to whether Keith Parsons is yet fit to bowl aain but he is in the side ad would be a real bonus.  We need accuracy and tightness from an attack that hasn't looked threatening in recent games.  Cox  strengthens a batting line-up that still includes Wood, Hildreth, Francis J and captain Burns,  who will keep hold of the gloves in the continued absence of both Turner and Gazzard.

Can this side beat Notts?  It would be a very good victory if it happened but if our "promotion campaign" is to get back "on the rails" then I think our best option is to pray for a great deal of rain!!
