Loverboy describes a fascinating day at Uxbridge. While Middlesex looked like hitting the pits at tea (sack the entire committee!!) the evening session showed an amazing revival of fortunes (reinstate the entire committee!!!). Loverboy's famous appetite, however, was not whetted by the catering on offer, however.......
'MIDDLESEX SURVIVE WHITE HEAT.'

Highlight of the day at Uxxers was a storming innings from Rob White which threatened to put us out of the game.

However we came back strongly after tea,and despite some late setbacks the match is intertestingly poised.

The day began disappointingly as yesterday's hero A.C.seemed strangely reluctant to take the initative, and the innings quickly subsided without further batting points.

Overdoing the celebrations last night perhaps?
A hot sun,a flat wicket, lightening fast outfield and limited bowling attack was causing much pessimism in Middlesex hearts, and so it proved as Northants set off at six an over.
O'Brien enjoyed some luck before Murts plucked out his off stump, but then Steve Peters and Rob white kept up the pace and continued to punish the flagging attack.
Eventually Peters hampered by an injury to his leg in attempting to turn for a second run became Dial M's second victim.
White reached an impressive hundred in double quick time and partnered by David Sales the score mounted rapidly, until White eventually fell to Udal for a spectacular 127.
Things improved dramatically after tea as Finny brought off a fine C&B to dismiss Boje, and Dawid claimed his first Middlesex wicket when Sales fell to a diving catch at slip by Joycey.
When Kluesner holed out at long leg,3 wickets had fallen in successive overs.
The 300 arrived in only the 60th over before two slip catches by Andy saw N'hants reduced to 312-8,but some late order hitting saw them with a 37 run first innings lead.
With 3 0vers to bat,Andy and night watchman Finny fell to Van Der Wath.
A beautiful day produced a slightly disappointing crowd of little over a 1,000.
Sufficient elevated seating was thankfully in place ,but catering outlets left something to be desired.
Overpriced Sarnies, and Hamburgers or Hot Dogs were all that appeared to be on offer.   Hardly Haute Cuisine.
