Rhymps on the Go
First shock of the day on arriving yesterday was to find my concessionary bus pass was no use in a foreign country.
I nearly turned round and went back home; didn't bargain for that.
Anyway,I stayed and recieved a warm Welsh welcome at the ground where The President seemed intent on greeting all English visitors personally.
It was only £8 to get in and that seemed to be on a voluntary basis.
Middlesex representation was good for a change, even The Middlesex President, Treasurer and at least four other of our esteemed committee were present today.
Six out of eighteen is pretty good I think, and when compared to about thirty members out of 8,000 I don't see a problem, concerning their non -visibility as claimed by some.
Still,on to the cricket and there wasn't much today.
JD was out early on,which prompts the question "How many players have scored centuries for and against Middlesex in the County Championship"?
We batted in gloomy and overcast conditions, and Ed Joyce soon stroked the ball lazily in the air staight to JD in the covers, Ace dispatched Crofty out of the ground and was then bowled.
Billy struggled against the moving ball, and eventually heavy rain intervened at 2.20,and despite a couple of later inspections no further play was possible.
Disappointing as this morning it was bright and clear and I had an early dip in The Briony, which was most invigorating and I think Briony quite enjoyed it too.
Off home shortly as urgent business in Leeds curtails my trip on this occasion.
