Beefy reports on another humiliating defeat, some interesting bets and Barmy Paul impersonating a Middx fielder with a pint of lager

After this mornings seasonal rains,I thought will it/won't it be on. but with the drainage system it's got to be played ( unfortunately). And,because of a crazy dream the night before about the lights I had to be there, I dreamt that all the lights worked but the pylon by the Edrich stand had a faulty teleacpoic part, and 3 engineers were jumping up and down on it until it started working(yeah ,it is sad)

Met Paul and his mate at the Star for a couple of pre match beers. We made our way to the ground for last seasons final re-match with the hope that Ace and Morgan will be back for us,with Strauss resting.  No queue this time we walk straight in,no bag or wigs with me this time, sorry Green Team.

The lights are already on,Paul saying 'The lights will look good later as it will be a dark night'  ( 1st place prize to Paul in stating the bleeding obvious competition)

Name?  Barmy Paul.  Specialist Subject?  The Bleeding Obvious

Kent win the toss and decide to bat we have and as we hoped Ace and Morgan wrere back. Richardson opened the bowling from Nursery end, soon Key is out,a superb back peddling one handed catch by Malan without scoring. A good start by the Middle

Paul and myself have a couple of bets both did 21-25 runs in the first 5 overs  I also had Morgan as the highest Middle scorer.  As well, our first bets are over, lost it by 1 run, Paul saying what a joke, I've never been so excited about £18

It's a poor crowd, the weather didn't help and with some other Mickey Mouse final on the tele.

Evans is next to bowl from the Pavilion end with Kent on 26-1 off 5 overs,he is having a bad time with bowling 14  off over and decide after the 8th over its beer time. Shaggy puts himself on to bowl from Pavilion end after Evans Kent are 52-1 off 7 then a breakthrough Denly caught by Morgan in front of the pavilion 55-2. In comes the ex England wicket keeper Jones and Dexter replies with an 8 ball over from the Nursey end, both Jones and Van Jaarsveld looking too comfortable against fairly easy bowling,Malan helps the ball over the rope for a Jones 6. Then Jones goes for 30,Richardson takes 2 for 25 but Evans nightmare still continues with the ball going through his hands for a 4, Stevens on 52 off 19 balls.Kent finally reach 191-3 off their 20 overs a good, but getable score. Mind you this is Middlesex chasing.

During the interval,Middlesex anounce the player of the month, only one player really, Phil Hughes  (wish you were still here),Gus picks up the award for him, will it be sent in the post or give him it when he comes back this week with his national side?

What a Bright Light He Is!!

Paul and his mate decide to juggle a pint of lager, the result all down their legs and over the floor, what a waste!   " Are you Evans in disguise?

The Middlesex innings starts, not with a flourish and we are well down on the run rate by 7 runs, Dexter has a hook shot for a 4 and the Seaxe man tells me the floodlight by the Warner stand had 7 lights out. Compton then stumped for 7,Ace next in and the Middle supporters are hoping for some quickfire runs, but still continuing slow.

Paul' John McCrirrick' Foster has another bet,on Middle to get 21-25 runs in first 5 overs, again he loses out by 1 run.

Morgan comes in,and with both himself and Ace in we should be ready for the run rate to go down........wrong we are only on 48-3 off 8 over half the run rate reached so far. The Middle reach 50 off 8.2 overs. The murmers in the Tavern Upper are we won't get their score. ( 2nd place for stating the bleeding obvious) Then someone sings "we're going to lose all 10" Ace wakes up a 4 then a lovely 6 towards the Compton stand, maybe we can get going at last
Morgan goes leg before for 11 trying his flick, when they come off they are good, when they don't...........Tredwell,who did the damage in the FPT,on from the pavilion Ace hooks and is out,we are 73-5.

Paul and his mate leave to watch the football but came back as they felt guilty!
Malan bowled for 4 and a second defeat while defending our crown is on, Shaggy is in and there are ironic cheers when we reach the magic 100.
As expected,we didn't reach the Kent score finishing on 129-8 and a massive defeat by 62 runs.

After our second defeat,we will struggle to get through the group,or even finish in the top 3 to get a division 1 place in next seasons EPL. As everyone else was saying,it was a grim performance at Lords under the lights.
