Middx in quarters
By David Slater
May 28 2003
Middlesex reached the quarter finals of the C&G trophy today by beating Sussex by 17 runs. Captain Andy Strauss was man of the match with a superbe 75 in an opening stand of 139 with Paul Weekes who was out on 73.
After that things slowed down and Middlesex were lucky to reach 258/8 at the end of the 50 overs.

Sussex then set about reaching the target of 259 but were never close enough. A late flurry of wickets left Kirtley and Davis on hand to make the score respectable, more then can be said for the behaviour of the Sussex "fans".

On the down side, after a fall, David Allayne was taken to hospital with a dislocated shoulder. He will be out for anywhere between 4-12 weeks. We wish him well for a quick recovery.
