We always lose in August!
By Jeremy Horne
August 17 2003
Middx's unbeaten record ended today as Kent secured a 8 wicket victory. Middlesex were bowled out for 165, meaning Kent needed 96 for the win. They achieved this despite the lose of two early wickets.
Day 3:
Middlesex go into the final day at Lords on the brink of defeat with a lead of just 71 and only four 2nd innings wickets intact. Earlier in the day, the Kent tail saw them up to a huge 477 all out, having resumed on 285-6.

Mark Ealham, Amjad Khan and Martin Saggers were all on fire in the 1st 2 sessions as they cashed in on the runs with Ealham and Khan both hitting fifties, whilst Saggers hit 44. Saggers then took 3 Middlesex wickets to reduce us to 69-5, still a run in arrears of the visiting team. However, some stable batting later in the order from Paul Weekes, David Nash and Jamie Dalrymple saw us to 141-6 at Stumps and although we face an uphill struggle, our tail have answered the call before and will certainly need to produce again tomorrow. Although, with David Nash back in the pavilion, things look less promising, given his recent run of good form.

DAY 2:
Middlesex took four late wickets as Kent Slipped to 285-6 in their 1st innings, still 122 runs behind Middlesex. A strong performance from Kent's top 3 saw them off to a good start as David Fulton (86), Robert Key (40) and Michael Carberry (49) saw them to 172-1. However, Middlesex plugged away and were rewarded as Kent slumped from 272-3 to 282-6.

Earlier in the day, Chad Keegan and Joe Dawes added some vital runs to Middlesex's first innings as we managed to secure maximum batting points in getting bowled out for 407, with Keegan remaining 36 not out.

DAY 1:
David Nash hit a superb century as Middlesex made an astonishing recovery on day one against Kent. Muttiah Muralitharan had earlier taken four wickets to leave the 'sex 190-7, but Nash, together with new cap Simon Cook (65) added 125 for the 8th wicket as we closed on 364-8.
