Middlesex began with a small wobble when Paul Weekes (15) was out but a stand of 96 between Hutton (41) and Shah inspired Middlesex to a total of 209 for 7 at the end of their allotted overs.
70 from Phil Jaques got the hosts off to a good start, despite the loss of Wood early on, but a slump saw them go from 102/2 to 180 all out. Simon Cook got the wickets of Silverwood and Dawson in the last over before with one ball left the hosts decided not to risk Hoggard who got injured after bowling 3 balls and accept a defeat which puts Middlesex 4 points clear at the top with a game in hand, which is Scotland at Richmond tomorrow.
