Pathetic collapse costs Middx dear
By David Slater
July 21 2004
A woeful collapse saw Middx go from a potentially match winning 132/2 to 182 all out chasing Worcestershire's 252/4, losing by 70 runs in front of the Sky cameras.

The Middlesex bowlers never got a grip on proceedings as Hick (107*) and Solanki (55) put in wonderful displays, backed up by Peters (27) and Leatherdale (22). Jamie Dalrymple was the pick of the bowlers taking 1-28, whilst Chris Wright took his first NCL wicket. The debutants McGrath and Agarkar both went for 4 off their first balls.

Depite the early loss of Hutton (4) and Weekes (9), Middlesex looked in a good position up until the 28th over, with Joyce (65) and Shah (36) putting Middx on 132/2 when it all went wrong. The wickets fell whilst the run rate went up and up. Ben Scott and Glenn McGrath did their best to prolong the defeat before Scott was caught of Bichel's bowling.
