March 19 2019

England and Australia players in this years Ashes, will all be wearing names and numbers on the back of their test shirts, in a new initiative announced today.

The International Cricket Council have confirmed the news, which will bring the longer form of the game, more into line with the one day set up, and of course it is nothing new, with the domestic game having the same deal since 2003.

Former England Cricket Captain Michael Vaughan, welcomed the move, tweeting that he was "delighted to hear Names & Numbers will be on test playing shirts... About time, add a bit of colour as well".

The series all gets under way on August 1st at Edgbaston, following a World Cup being hosted in England, where of course they remain favourites for the top prize.
