Was Sachin consulted on this purchase, I wonder?

I guess Sachin should be part of all these, but sometimes the higher management are swayed by hype and make decisions....

However, i wonder whether he will be in the starting line up ?from the start?

Hi, West Indies fan here. I hope this forum becomes popular as I will be supporting Mumbai during the next IPL.

You mentioned Pollard's international record but his 20/20 domestic career has been superb. He was part of the Stanford Superstars team that played flawlessly, he was the standout performer in the Champions League 20/20 competition and he just finished the Big Bash domestic tournament in Australia as the leading run-scorer.

Is he worth quite so much money? Probably not at this stage as he has certainly not reached his maximum potential, but he has freakish capabilities that may place him above anyone else in the future and that may be what swayed the management. He is a spectacular fielder full of athleticism, he bowls decent medium pace that has proven useful even at ODI level and he has a freakish ability to hit the ball harder and further than anyone else.

I sure accept your views about Pollard, and his domestic and other tournaments, except the international ones, are quite good, but hopefully he keeps up the momentum, and don't buckle under pressure, cuz he is too young, and money with expectations might be too huge for the kid to handle, and IPL is quite huge, with media coverage etc., so lets keep fingers crossed.

Kieron is ridiculously rich for a 22 year old that has only played 3 years of senior FC cricket. He won $1 Million US dollars from the Stanford Superstars match, having won $100,000 dollars for the domestic version of that tournament the year before.

He then went to the Champions League and won player of the tournament a long with approximately $400,000 dollars of prize money.

Now this IPL money is heading his way and numerous endorsements I fear he wont be motivated to try and make it in test cricket which would be a massive shame as he has an amazing amount of batting talent at his disposal.

T20 is huge entertainment and good money, which is attracting lots of youngsters, who are preparing only for these tournaments with no desire for test or even one-dayers, which is a sad state of affairs.

He is currently playing in T20 versus Zimboks... let's see what he does...
