IPL Bound?
By Nima
February 7 2010
Reliance Mukesh Ambani led IPL Mumbai Indians team might have competition from the other Ambani - Anil. The IPL bidding set for the month end would see introduction of two new teams for the next season, starting in 2011.

News reports are suggesting that Anil Ambani, the younger of the Ambani brothers, is planning to bid for one of these teams.

The teams set up for bidding are Ahmedabad (Gujarat) and Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh), and its believed that Anil Ambani would be bidding for the Ahmedabad team. The two additional teams would take the total teams to 10 in the next season.

Anil's interest in Ahmedabad is justified from the fact that more than half of his newly-floated Reliance-1 team consists majority of players from Gujarat.  Also, next year's bidding might see some major players from Gujarat, playing in other teams, shifting to Anil's camp.

The first family of Indian business saw power struggle amongst the two brothers, that split their empire into two. With the brothers now competing in the same cricket league, one may witness the competition going from onfield to a personal level.

Anil's association with the shorter form of cricket started from his close association with ICL earlier.

As reported in the Hindustan Times, the other business houses that are said to be involved in the bidding process are the Hero Honda group, Poonawala, Sahara group etc.,

Re: From Boardroom to IPL
they are crazy about cricket i say....but, i guess Anil has been snubbed and most probably he won't be able to bid for a team....he will now either be out or backup someone who will be working for him.

Amdavadis will however surely see their own team hopefully.
