Brown Caps win again!

Surrey won their third consecutive game in the pro 40 league as they defeated Leicestershire by 33 runs at the Brit Oval. The Brown caps won, despite 152 from Darren Maddy. Mark Butcher top scored for Surrey with 88, as they made 275 for 7.

Benning and Brown gave Surrey the perfect start with a partnership of 84. Brown fell for 43 and was quickly followed by Ramprakash for 5. Benning was then joined by Butcher and together they added 59. Benning fell for 70 when he was caught by Sadler with Henderson taking the wicket. Newman was next to go for 5, but Mahmood added a useful stand of 42 with Butcher. Mahmood made 26, before Henderson took his wicket. Henderson also removed Batty for 9.Murtgh also fell before the close of the innings for 7, but Butcher hit 88as Surrey reached 275 for 7.

Leicestershire had a flying start as Maddy and Robinson added 108 for the opening stand. Robinson fell for 32 when he was caught by Murtagh with Kumble taking the wicket. Ackerman was next to go for 8 as he was bowled by Murtagh. Harrison quickly followed for a duck as he was adjudged leg before wicket to Kumble. Nixon, Snape and Sadler all fell in single figures, with Doshi taking two wickets. This left the foxes 160 for 6. Maddy and Henderson nearly took the game away from Surrey with a stand of 50. Henderson fell for 17 to Doshi and Walker and Cummins were both run. Maddy was the last man to go for an excellent 152 from just 110 balls as he was bowled by Doshi, who took four wickets. Surrey won by 33 runs, their third victory in out of three games in the tournament.
