Latest News Updates on today's match at Taunton

Play has got underway here at Taunton, as this Totesport League Division 2 match starts, with overcast weather. Keep checking for regular news updates. Just 2 and a half overs were bowled before a sudden heavy rain shower halted things for 20 minutes. Surrey had a young opening pair of bowlers, Neil Saker and Phil Sampson. But Neil Burns departed very early from a good bowl by Saker which trapped him lbw. Trescothick has joined Jayasuriya, and this pair of batsmen look very troublesome, and if they are together for a bit, there could be some real fireworks. Sanath Jayasuriya has started with a bang, and has alread struck some brilliant fours. The batsmewn have continued to take advantage of the poor bowling from Saker and Sampson. They have put the Sabres in a good position and are holding a strong run rate. If they stay together, they could set a high target for the Lions. But the partnership was broken when the Sabres were on 104-1 as Nayan Doshi bowled a ball which turned and Trescothick edged to Ramprakash. Then Jayuasuriya finally went as he had a huge, deserved applause for his fine knock of 61. Doshi also got the wicket. But now Francis and Parsons have kept in the Sabres in it, and the run rate is still high. They are currently doing very well as the bowlers continue to toil. A hard run chase for Surrey beckons. When the match finishes, these updates throughout the day will be summarised into a proper match report. James Benning has bowled Francis as they find the vital wicket they need. Although now Blackwell is inb, the runs could keep flowing nicely... Ian Blackwell is out after attempting another boundary but played well, strikig some grat fours and a six. Somerset are still batting very well. Keith Parsons has reached his half-century.
