Lions claim second victory

Surrey clamed there second Frizzell county championship victory as they beat Glamorgan by 270 runs at the Brit Oval. Surrey needed just one session to take 8 wickets as Glamorganslo9st 7 wickets in 31 runs.

Day 1

Surrey clamed there second Frizzell county championship victory as they beat Glamorgan by 270 runs at the Brit Oval. Surrey needed just one session to take 8 wickets as Glamorganslo9st 7 wickets in 31 runs.

Surrey clamed all batting points as they made a massive 444 for 7, with Scott Newman returning to from with a century. Ali Brown top scored in the innings with 122 from just 116 balls.

Day 2

Surrey added just 3 runs to there overnight score of 444 for 7. Surrey then bowled Glamorgan out for 345, with bowler David Harrison rescuing his team by scoring 75 from 73 balls. At the close of play Surrey were 66 for no wicket.

Day 3

Surrey took control as they made 425 for 5 declared, with Scott Newman making a massive score of 219. Mark Ramprakash made 97 and Ali Brown hit a quick fire 42 from just 22 balls as the lions pilled on the runs. Newman become the only Surrey player to score a century and a double century in the same match.

Glamorgan then reached 171 for 2 at the close of play with Powell and Hemp at the crease. They had been 19 for 2 as Bicknell removed both openers cheaply.

Day 4

After a massive stand of 171 the partnership of Powell and Hemp was broken as Martin Bicknell took a stunning catch at gully to remove Powell for 93, to leave Glamorgan 190 for 3. Hemp was next to go as fell caught behind to Akram for 95. This wicket started of a collapse as Akram and Clarke ripped through the Glamorgan batting order. They lost 7 wickets for 21 runs in 28 balls. Clarke took three wickets as he dislodged the stumps on two occasions as he removed Hughes and then first innings hero David Harrison for a first ball duck, at one point he was on a hat trick. Surrey clamed 22 points as Glamorgan suffered there four defeat in four.
