The 30 man squad included four Durham players as Onions joins teammates Paul Collingwood, Steve Harmison and Liam Plunkett.
Only Lancashire were better represented with five of their players in the squad. The next best were Warwickshire and Essex with three players each.
The squad will be reduced to a final squad of just 14 on the 7th September with the tournament starting on 7th October.
While Colly and Harmison are already with the England squad, Liam Plunkett is recovering from a side strain that ruled him out of the third and fourth tests against Pakistan. Plunkett will be hoping to show what he can do in the one day series against Pakistan if fully recovered.
