England's coach Peter Moores has said that Mustard is likely to take the keepers gloves for the Twenty20 matches that start on Tuesday but that the competition for the test place is wide open.
Phil impressed in Sri Lanka with some excellent keeping performances and some good periods with the bat but failed to convert his starts into decent scores. While the hit and miss nature of the twenty20s are unlikely to decide his fate one way or another Phil will be under pressure to perform with the bat once the one day internationals start on Saturday.
Of course he will be expected to keep up his performances behind the stumps while striving to improve his form in front of them, such is the challenge of a present day England wicket keeper!
