Durham in trouble as Caddick takes five
By Jon Steer
May 7 2005
After reducing Somerset to 252 all out and what looked to be a low first innings score the Durham innings started well. Both Jon Lewis and Michael Hussey were scoring freely as the score moved on to 80 without loss.
The openers had seen off the strike bowlers Caddick and Johnson and looked to be set when Laraman struck the first blow. He had Lewis caught behind and Durham were 86-1. Then in scenes typical of seasons past, disaster struck as Caddick returned for a second spell and took five wickets in as many overs as Durham slumped to 118-6.

Caddick accounted for Collingwood, Benkenstein, Beese and Mustard all before they reached double figures. With the exception of the openers Gordon Muchall was the only batsmen who seemed to be able to stay at the crease and he and Liam Plunkett had started to look a bit more comfortable when Johnson struck to remove Muchall for 12.

Durham finished the day on 141-7 with an awful lot to do if they are to get back to a competitive position.
