Al Jazeera reports "savage and motiveless" attack on Indian student Anuj Bidve in northern city of Salford, UK. At the same time, it is claimed to be a racist attack.

Having lived in England for a long time, I am not surprised at all. They turn in to savages after the pubs close - not that they are much different before pubs close!

Now, before there are accusations of racial bias on my part, let me say that I say this with my own experience, having been chased quite a few times at night returning home, by drunken (not always) hooligans.

Shocking to hear, and good to know the police there are taking it up as a hate crime, offering a reward, and arresting suspects.

This thread is being moved to the OT forum, as it is not cricket-related.

Really shocking...

I think no Western country except USA has enhanced punishment for HATE CRIMES...and that has to do with the efforts of Civil Rights leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. etc...

Someone can correct me if I am wrong...
