Countdown clock?

What does the clock show at the top of this forum?

I read it as counting down to something?
Start of the season / last game of the season?

But just noticed the clock counting up, not down?

it's counting further away from Zero, which was i guess the last game of the season.

So sort of up and down

It seems this weekend is the 'Cricket Solstice' midway between last game of last season and the first game of next.

So.... anything anyone wants for 2019 cricket-wise... it's wish time.....

Wish time? it provoked a thought...

I have just popped my new year (or cricket solstice) wish up on my website in the form of a riddle encased in a poem.

This link will take you straight to it:

In the spirit of new year goodwill the riddle is not too difficult to solve. Finding exactly where the answer is encased in the poem might be just a little harder - although not much!

Either it's raining here in the coffee shop, or that made me cry 😢

Are we double or nothing on that for this season or not guys. Just looking for things to look forward to as I go back to work.

Just realised I've organised a half term break in Dublin when I could have jumped across to St Lucia and watched the Test. Got the dates wrong and the island hop would have been at least twice the price. But I can dream I suppose.

Wonderful idea lalala, gets my vote.
Now fully fit & raring to go it's in the bag this season.
My only worry this season is that ashes call up come August.....

Just in case there is anyone who failed to locate the answer to the riddle in the 'A New Year wish' poem on my website (link in an earlier post) the answer is here (in the words formed from the first letter of each line:

Can I wish for a star?
Or should I wish for the moon?
Unpack my wish be you near or far.
No excuses. Unpack this riddle soon.

Time immemorial since this wish first took shape.
Yet we wish it again and again and again…
Counting the new year’s days ’til we start the merry jape;
Hope springing eternal through another campaign.

Awaiting what’s been awaited over a century long.
My wish is a wish burned deep into my brain.
Perforce, ’tis the wish of the whole Somerset throng
In summer, in winter, in sunshine and in rain.

Onward is driven the spirit of Somerset’s hope.
Never daunted in pursuit of that holiest of grails,
Steadfastly dreaming of that final ball crossing the rope.
Happy will be that day that ends our endless travails.

Inside these verses must you find my desire.
Perchance a star? Perchance the moon? Perchance, aim higher.

Just popped it up on my website SLLL. "Two Somerset Jacks"

The post will now gradually sink down the home page but I have updated the link (below) so that it goes direct to the poem:

That’s lovely, JCW. May I suggest that, early next season, you should present a copy to our Jack.
