...not to mention Bartlett's 100 today - his style does make him look a lot like Joe Root.

Has anyone noticed what a miserably poor outfit Middx have become under whingebag Fraser?

Nope, too busy looking at the business end of the championship and don't hold grudges once a day or two has passed.

Dom Bess (83*) has just scored his 1000th first class run. Well done that man.

Peter Moores was right to say in the Nottingham Evening Post this week that he is not `buying` success by poaching players from neighbouring Midlands counties.

Three of them - Sadler, Duckett and Clarke - who have hardly bagged a run this season to date, contributed a total of 34 today in Nottinghamshire`s 80-7, in reply to Warwickshire`s 390-plus.

And this in the match already billed as the Division One relegation decider. Any houses being bet on Moores still being their head coach at the end of the season?

I note that a match between Austria Women and Turkey Women has been cancelled today without a ball being bowled. "Cancelled" not "abandoned" - could the issue of an ultimatum between the Hapsburg and the Ottoman empires have had some influence on the situation?

Cancelled due to players not being able to obtain visas.

Things go from bad to worse for Nottinghamshire.

They have received a Level One warning for their on-field behaviour against Warwickshire at Edgbaston last week, and captain Steven Mullaney has said he would not be surprised if there were individual sanctions against one or two players.

Meanwhile, Warwickshire are beginning to fear Ian Bell won`t play for them this season. His foot injury is taking longer to clear than expected and he saw a new specialist on Friday.

Play taking places in only two matches today, both in CC2, and already four wickets have fallen in each of them. Doesn't sound like a good day for batting.

Edited to add "now five wickets in each". Who'd be a batsman on a wintry day in June!

Essex all-rounder Matt Coles, who has been on the staff at Kent and Hampshire, has joined Northamptonshire on a month`s loan. He is a replacement for loanees Jamie Overton and Luke Wood, who have been recalled by Somerset and Nottinghamshire respectively.

This article about the ambitions and finances of Surrey is a month old now but I don't think it has been commented on?

Surrey Ambitions

Slightly surprised that in an article written about county cricket, the previous employment experience summary of Richard Gould mentions Bristol City FC but not Somerset CCC.

With the environment agency warning of flooding and the River Severn having already broken its banks, next week's CC2 match between Worcestershire and Sussex has been moved from New Road to Kidderminster. The match will now start on Tuesday to give ground staff an extra day's preparation.

Some unusual German names in their team currently playing in the Channel Islands (once upon a time a home fixture). Muhammad, Mohammed, Chikkanaiah, Singh, Amir Mangal, Muslim Yar, Ahmed Wardak and Dawlateai. They do have a Meschede though, of course, who after top-scoring yesterday was out second ball for nought today. Funny old world.

Nine wickets in the match for Jimmy Anderson, who now has 948 first class wickets (575 of them at Test level)

Meanwhile his Lancashire opening partner, Graham Onions, just 41 days his junior, had a match haul of eight wickets, taking his career first-class tally to 703. Reckon well over 5% of those will be Somerset batsmen, and Marcus will feature more than once or twice.

Onions is surely unlucky that injury and the emergence of the Branderson partnership means he has only played nine Tests.

A new ball attack of Jimmy and Bunny, under glowering skies, vs CC2 batsmen, is tantamount to cheating!

Former Glo`shire seamer Liam Norwell, who played only once for his old county last summer but had an impressive debut for his new county Warwickshire with both bat and ball against Somerset at Taunton last month, has suffered yet another hamstring injury. His continuing run of bad luck means he will miss the rest of their current match with Yorkshire at York.

Incidentally, seven of the Warwickshire team in this match were recruited from other counties, including two from Glo`shire and two from opponents Yorkshire. So much for Ashley Giles`s repeated claim that they were focussing now on local talent.

A very interesting 4th innings at York. 195 at 3 an over is eminently gettable to deprive Yorkshire of a win

Re: 2019 OTHER CRICKET NEWS
AGod 20 June, 2019 12:36
Not losing 10 wkts to deprive them of a win. The 195 to inflict a defeat. I’d guess it’s 60:40 in the visitors’ favour, assuming no rain.

Hopeless Notts are getting hammered again.

Re: 2019 OTHER CRICKET NEWS
Loyal of Lhasa 20 June, 2019 14:12
I've got a good idea. Why don't Notts look around the other counties and see if there are any batsmen they can lure to Trent Bridge?
