I too picked up on the sub fielder - apparently Samit Patel has been off the field all morning so far, so if he has something serious the matter it will impact quite a bit on Notts' fourth-day attack.
The sub is Kam Leverock, nephew of the above, who had a bit of a run in our 2nd XI a couple of years ago and whose non-avuncular athleticism I witnessed briefly in a cup semi-final - the same match where George B got a 60-odd which impressed me more than any innings I'd seen from a teenage batsman in years.
While I have expressed misgivings about sticking with Marcus at No. 1, I noted that the Notts commentator remarked that he batted extremely well in testing circumstances last night despite only making 10. I did catch Azhar's lbw on the live stream and thought it pretty borderline.
Outstanding work by our young 4th-wicket pair so far this morning.

Top work from these two. Hopefully George B has nailed himself into the CC team for the foreseeable future.

Bermuda link. Kam is nephew of Dwayne (20 stone flying slip fielder Bermuda v India 2007).

His wife has just given birth.

What a TERRIFIC SCCC morning.

By lunch, Notts were resorting to something approaching leg-theory, such little encouragement had they received.

It is incumbent on these two to re-establish concentration after their grub (or awful energy shake or whatever they are allowed these days!) and then just keep going in exactly the same vein.

Of course, you could/should always add 2 wickets to a scorecard, and the new ball is, what, 21 over or so away....... I know it's being greedy but, because of the new ball, I'd like about another 40 overs of these two, so that nobody else comes in against a new cherry. With little lateral movement evident any more, one wonders whether Notts will also try the "enforcer," stuff with the new cherry?

An excellent morning. It’s especially pleasing that GB has taken his opportunities to cement a place in the side.

I reckon that the overall state of the match is still pretty even. So, after an important morning, we have an important afternoon!

Our first batting bonus point, something these two ought to be very pleased about. Let's treasure it and hope we get another

Kent have just topped 500 against Warwickshire featuring Adam Hose, Glamorgan declaring on a whopping 570 (yes, I checked that) and Yorkshire going well on 450, so a lot of batting going on

Congratulations to Samit Patel and his wife.
...that said, I dread to think what my then wife might have said if I'd dashed off to play cricket as soon as any of ours were born.

What a stand! Not only has the batting been highly effective, it has also been intelligent (in the last ten overs with an old ball, these two have scored 65) and both bat with great style, making it a pleasure to watch them.

Now for career bests, please.

Record 4th-wicket partnership for Som v Notts - beating a previous record by two considerably larger-built gentlemen

So, we are now in the lead and GB has reached his highest First Class score.

Any runs now will only increase both scores and may be considered a bonus.

Believe this is now George's highest first class score (previously 110 at Old Trafford last season, when Marcus broke his foot)

In the context of winning this match, today’s performance means nothing - we know from the last match it’s quite possible to be 2nd best much of the game but raise the level to win at the end. But looking at the big picture, this has been a tremendous day. Bartlett will rightly get most of the praise, but what a contribution by our captain too. This isn’t a poor attack they’ve been up against either. And when our top 3 batsmen find their feet too......

So much for the assessment of George after his first innings - 'rabbit in the headlights' I think it was. Great maturity in this knock.

So, presently we need a new 1, 2 and 3 but 4 and 5 seem OK

Bartlett's two career CC tons - First one vs Jimmy at OT, second one vs Broad at T Bridge.

Really tremendous stuff from him today.

I note that Liam Dawson has, already, had to bowl 55 overs in a single innings at Headingley - which must be some kind of record for the second week in April.

There really doesn't seem much left in this track here at T Bridge for the seamer, today, meaning that our man, Leachy, might also be in for a rather long bowl, I think.

Meantime, I've given zero thought to the white ball stuff that's about to start but, presumably, if he wasn't already pencilled in to play, then Mr Bartlett will be inked in to start the 50 over campaign in a few days' time?

Agree, AG - save that Hampshire are bowling at the Ageas Bowl, rather than Headingley.

340/7 would suggest with the newish ball there is still life in it.

The team selection for this match was always going to be difficult, I am sure Eddie would have come good on this pitch. The decision to have an extra bowler seems to have paid off so far with a role for Jack expected in the second innings. At least George must be in for the Surrey game. Some healthy competition is good and may encourage a shuffle in the batting order. Who else really wants to open?

Well it doesn't happen every day to us. In April
