There's a bit to debate in the first month of the season. I haven't added Marcus or Steve because of their mostly one format appearance and their pretty low levels of performance in those games.

It is great that we have more players involved than the 15 places provided. It is also great that there is quite an age gap between the main contenders for the prize this month.

Anyway have at it people. DO NOT include today's game in your assessments please as this is MAY!!

Interesting that only 2 players are featuring and one of those is running away with it. No arguments about the two but thought there might be a couple more names registering some traffic.

Won't need to kep this one going for long it seems.

I found it a very close choice between the two and would not be surprised if others did too; clearly most of us came up with the same narrow favourite.
Both also figured in the four-man shortlist for the PCA Player of the month (won by Liam Dawson).

A little surprised that George Bartlett didn’t get at least the odd vote for his fine knock at Trent Bridge.

This is pretty decisive.

The April Player of the Month is

LEWIS GREGORY

Agreed AG, George was another worthy candidate. Hopefully if he keeps up his present form he'll be up there again in future months.

Yes, he has been looking most promising.

Was very impressed with him against Surrey. Good to come in and do it when it is important and do it confidently.

This is 50 over stuff.

From the Middlesex Radlett loss on the first to the glory of the Final at the end of the month.

Take a punt people!! Should be an interesting one.

The fact that far more players than usual have been nominated is indicative of how the season has been. Significant contributions from so many.

I wouldn't be upset if any of those with votes were to be the winner.

Re: Poll: May Player of the Month
AGod 07 June, 2019 19:08
I’ve gone for the man who, I think, was the overall competition MVP?

I think those ratings systems are pretty good.

LG is (or at least was, prior to Guildford), top of the national red ball rankings, which seemed as fair as Cove being top of the national white ball rankings.

Incidentally, with two tons in games where the oppo made naff-all, then George must surely be rising, rapidly, up the red ball rankings?

Scrumper 08 June, 2019 00:56
Did Brooks play in any of the 50 over games?

Re: Poll: May Player of the Month
Grockle 08 June, 2019 01:23
Thought he did early ones but could be wrong. If he didn't then he'll get no votes or not enough worthwhile ones.

I bet he gets the UKIP votes.

Good one, Scrumper!

No, Brooks - I think, didn’t play any white ball games.

He was excellent carrying drinks and talking to spectators at the early matches.

Craig’s bowling strike-rate was superb. And Azhar’s batting strike-rate disappointing.

An interesting stand off presently. Anyone else with an opinion?

Looking back at the scorecards for this exercise, it's striking how much of an excellent all-round team effort the one-day cup winning campaign was. Until the final, it's only really the captain who doesn't feature prominently - then he had a very good day at Lord's.

The player of the month for May is

CRAIG OVERTON

I'll do the cosmetics later when I get on the full site.

Pushed close by Tom Banton but sped away at the end.

Apologies for my ignorance, do "we" give anything to Craig in recognition of this, or is it just for in house on this forum?

Re: Poll: May Player of the Month
Grockle 19 June, 2019 12:56
He goes on the Honour Roll (left hand menu option) which has been going since 2000. We used to give the Player if the Year something and a long time ago I asked if we wanted to continue that but the silence was deafening so it's just a sort of recognition thing now.

OK, thank you for the update
Are there many new users (myself included) I wonder if time to put the feelers out, to who would contribute?

Small concern and word of mouth site Phantom. Too old in the tooth to go looking for commercial sponsorship. We've been this way for 20 odd years. More comment than profile to be honest.

RLODC Finals and so forth in between.

The Hampshire game that has just concluded in NOT included as 75% of it took place in July.

Enjoy my children. I don't think I've left anyone significant out - but I have said that before I
