It isn’t getting easier *yet* WSM, but who knows what may happen after tea?

What is the injury Tom Banton has suffered in the Seconds game?

Re: Warks CC1 Taunton
AGod 21 May, 2019 14:19
I was told hammy, in which case no chance for Sat

Re: Warks CC1 Taunton
AGod 21 May, 2019 14:21
So Davies to keep, but also back to open?

WSM - re: this game. You say Warks were lucky to make even 130. However, they’ll be thinking that they coulda shoulda woulda made more, but for an absurd run out, that will probably not be repeated..

Rod1883 21 May, 2019 14:22
… other than Sibley has scored a century in each the last few games wsm? His confidence will be high I'm sure.
We have to bowl really really well to defend whatever we set, even with the pitch as it is. If we are as complacent about that as some of our batting, we will lose I fear.

Thanks AGod. Shame for Tom B, but an unexpected chance for Steve Davies.

The ask was to get the game over quickly but this is ridiculous. One who stands to lose is Hildy with a none too good average this season. If Morkel was playing the pitch would be different. The first innings lead should put our total out of reach, unless it changes drastically. I wonder if the match will make it till tomorrow?

Lead over 200, keep going lads!

Re: Warks CC1 Taunton
AGod 21 May, 2019 15:07
Well, Warks *should* have blown it, now. The dropped catch should have sapped morale.

However, I’d say that there seems less lateral movement now. What there still is is steepling (sometimes unpredictably so) bounce from the Pavilion End. So Cove will have to come up big again, to ram home the advantage.

Re: Warks CC1 Taunton
AGod 21 May, 2019 15:08
New info: Banton diagnosed as spasm in back. In which case, some hope.

Re: Warks CC1 Taunton
Rod1883 21 May, 2019 15:09
Would have liked another 12 or so runs - target of 250 or more being psychological.
We are going to have to bowl, catch and field well to defend this I think

Banton has a lower back spasm according to the official twitter.

There's no margin for Sibley to score big, that's for sure

Good grief judging by the amount of scrolling that's required on this thread, it doesn't take much to Stoke up a major panic attack.

Great start, well done Lewis

Re: Warks CC1 Taunton

1 down, 9 to go

Re: Warks CC1 Taunton

Fantastic start!

Tom Able is going to have to try and engineer another nine wickets and repair the -2 over rate from the first innings - so many things to think about for the skipper.

Grockle 21 May, 2019 15:35
I will split the thread for the mobile users at the end of today's play as I did at Bagpuss' prompting for the last game.

Hope Tom gets to London - he was a major reason we got there and it would be good to see him batting at HQ

It will rank as a major disappointment if he’s not there. He’s really the only explosive element in the top part of our order.

2 wickets in 6.2 overs, hopefully Hants can stay on the IOW till Thursday. If Notts play nicely

Notts doing their best to be asked to follow on! 159-9

They were 164/8 when I last looked, thus have avoided the follow on.

My mistake - I blame relying on the BBC live updates page which said 159-9, honest guv.

Re: Warks CC1 Taunton
Phrench Phil 21 May, 2019 16:19
Kent are also trying their best for us - 203/2 at Tea, 80 or so runs away from avoiding the follow on.
It just remains for Somerset to do their job.

Re: Warks CC1 Taunton
AGod 21 May, 2019 16:21
Looking a bit easier now. I think we should put Leachy on, pronto.

Re: Warks CC1 Taunton

Seamers, bar Craig looking innocuous as track starts to flatten round about when Brian Rose said it probably would.

Re: Warks CC1 Taunton
Rod1883 21 May, 2019 16:31
Great, our management team knew when it would flatten, but didn't seem to consider we would have to bat on it twice before that happened!

Leachy, you beauty

Re: Warks CC1 Taunton

I may have mentioned this before, but Jack Leach is a veritable deity..

That's two lbw appeals that Banks has survived, both looked more out than the one given in the first innings, from the camera view
