England cloud has Silver-wood lining

Chris Silverwood, 44, promoted from bowling coach to take over from Trevor Bayliss as England head coach, ahead of short-listed Gary Kirsten and Alec Stewart.

Always bowled well for Yorkshire at Taunton

And coached Essex to promotion from division 2 in 2016 and straight to the Championship title in 2017 after they had spent all but three seasons of the two division Championship in the second division.

I'm pretty happy with that. Seems popular, to have done a good job in the set-up so far, and is home-grown 👍

And avoided the 'Hundred' coaching route so still has some level of credibility!!

Spent an afternoon once at Taunton fighting of offers to come and bowl for Somerset because as he put it - 'he would rather get some wickets'.

As you say he seemed to do alright against us for Yorkshire but it was in the days when seamers sweated blood for wickets at Taunton.

Chris has 'paid his dues' in the right way and good luck to him.
