Although this move cannot happen due to no cricket being possible during the time when Mohammad Abbas’s spell at Nottinghamshire was due to take place and also because the time after the scheduled period of this spell is when Pakistan tour England, Notts are hopeful that Abbas can play for them at some point in the future.

Bresnan to Sussex?
Join up with old coach and maybe get his own coaching badges?
Return to the Yorkies as coach in the future?

Wiese and Van Zyl will leave Sussex at the end of 2020 when Kolpaks end. Meaning Sussex have a requirement for a bowling all-rounder. Derbyshire has also been mentioned as a possible destination. With Stevens being 44 Kent maybe potential suitors too.

The admirable Tim Bresnan signs for Warwickshire, initially on loan. Best of luck to him.

Ian Bell has extended his contract at Warwickshire until 2021.

In a deal which will start in November 2020, which I imagine will mean that this player will be allowed to represent his current club Gloucestershire during the 2020 season, Worcestershire have agreed to sign Gareth Roderick on a contract until 2023.

At Durham, Sean Dickson has signed from Kent in a move which sounds like he will be loan for the 2020 season and signed permanently for 2021, while James Weighell and Ben Whitehead will leave at the end of the 2020 season.

Fidel Edwards will not play for Hampshire in 2020, and the fact that he would have to fill an overseas player berth to continue playing from 2021 means that he may have played his final match for the club. However, his popularity means that if he doesn’t play next season, then the club will stage a testimonial match in his aid.

Seeing the latest signing by our Mexican friends, how do they manage to stay within the financial requirements the ecb lay down?
Especially as how things are this year, and hardly any income?

Paul Stirling had originally signed for just the group stages of Northamptonshire’s Twenty20 campaign in 2020, but he has now signed for the knockout stages too, although that of course assumes they actually get that far.

Craig Overton has extended his contract at Somerset until 2023.

Kyle Abbott will not represent Hampshire in 2020 due to the fact that he would have had to adhere to coronavirus-related protocols, which it seems to have been deemed to be more trouble than it is worth.

Durham’s James Weighall has moved on loan to Leicestershire for the rest of the 2020 season. His future beyond then is uncertain due to this being the last year of his contract at Durham, although if he does well at Leicestershire, then he would have a great chance of being offered a contract by Leicestershire or by another county.

At Surrey, Laurie Evans of Sussex and Adam Finch of Worcestershire have signed on loan for this week’s Bob Willis Trophy match v Essex at Chelmsford.

At Worcestershire, Ed Barnard has extended his contract until 2022, and Josh Tongue and Jack Haynes have extended their contracts until 2023.

Yorkshire’s Ed Barnes has moved on loan to Derbyshire for the rest of the 2020 season.

At Leicestershire, Ireland's Gareth Delany will play as an overseas player in their Twenty20 campaign, although they will not have the services of Janneman Malan, who had previously agreed to play in the two limited-overs competitions and in three County Championship matches.
