Has Nathan Sowter signed a contract or is he about too,he did play T20's for Middlesex firsts.
Anyone know the story,or will he juggle NSW 2nd xl and Middlesex 2nds.

I think that Nathan Sowter had a short-term contract at Middlesex while Ravi Patel was injured, which I assume was done to comply with ECB eligibility regulations. I don’t think he has officially been contracted to the club since his final 1st XI match on 14th June, and I am not sure whether we intend to offer him another contract, especially as it seems we are able to select him in our 2nd XI without him holding a contract. However, I think that his 2nd XI performances have been good enough for the club to be keen to keep hold of him.

I think that the fact he signed that short-term contract means he is unable to play as a domestic player in Australia, so it became a big career move, and it may mean he will set his sights on becoming a county cricketer.

Like Sam Robson, Sowter has an English mother, which helps his eligibility to play in England.

Thanx Johnathon,I expect him 2 play grade this year, dunno if he will get picked for the 2nds,depends on how he performs in grade.

What do you mean, S_M?

It's 2016, unless the club say differently.

Edit- the club have an 'option' for 2017, but the contract as it stands is only until 2016, so it's important the opening post is factually correct. I assume it means we paid him a few bob extra for a clause that says we have first refusal in 2017.

After an impressive 2015, I am very happy about Nick Gubbins' contract extension.

The fact Middlesex appear set to not sign an opening batsman as an overseas player in 2016 hints that Gubbins is earmarked to be a first-team regular, so hopefully next season will see him make some further progress.

Re: Contracts Update

As he was already signed until 2017 anyway I assume this new deal equals a pay increase to reflect his increased first team appearances.

Tom Helm and Harry Podmore have signed contract extensions at Middlesex, although I don’t think it is clear how long their contacts are for.

Angus Fraser says that he has high hopes for both players, while according to Chinese Whispers, Steven Finn has previously said that Helm is capable of going on to play for England.

Hopefully both players will get first-team opportunities in 2016.
