Luke Hollman (aged 18) is a hard hitting left-handed middle-order batsman and leg-spin bowler. He has impressed for North Middlesex C.C. and in Middlesex youth cricket.

He has already represented England under-19's and has been selected for this winter's England Lions squad of eighteen.

Hollman has already impressed several astute observers including Club President John Emburey.

Lower Mound has seen Luke Hollman play for Middlesex 2nd XI a few times, and he rates Hollman highly. Mind you, I can think of a few Middlesex players down the years either Lower Mound or I have rated highly, and not all of them have ended up making the grade, so hopefully that won’t be the kiss of death.

Ollie Rayner, Nathan Sowter and Thilan Walallawita are currently above Hollman in the pecking order of spinners at Middlesex, although if Hollman can have a great winter and early-summer with England Young Lions and our 2nd XI and/or anything happens to the aforementioned trio, then his situation could improve.

Maybe one or two academy players will get their first contracts in the next few weeks.

Most times (not always) an England U 19 tour gets you a contract.

Luke Hollman has been named in England Young Lions’ squad for a tour of Bangladesh in late-January to mid-February, in which the press release says that they will face their hosts in one U19 IT20, three U19 ODIs and two U19 Tests. It seems that “England Young Lions” is another name for “England U-19s”, in which case the matches will surely have full U-19 international status.
