Seaxe.Man-

Are you in light grey trousers and a sleeveless shirt?

As is often the case with the second XI feeds, the picture keeps freezing for a couple of seconds, then, like and old silent movie the vision is twice as fast for a couple of seconds to catch up.

Please say it's you. I've never seen you move so fast!

Interesting to note Bopara playing for Essex dinkies. I’m guessing this is close to end of his first class career.

Bopara is only 34. More likely looking for form.

Demon bowling from Nick Gubbins, I see.

Surrey facing a bowling line up that wouldn't look out of place in a first team game, with Murtagh, Bamber, Harris, Rayner plus Walallawita.

So far, this match has seen Tim Murtagh take 5-25 in just 16.3, Ethan Bamber take 3-43 in 20 overs, Sam Robson score 122 and Max Holden reach 151 not out, although we will have to see whether it will count for much considering it isn’t against the strongest of opposition.

Despite being made to follow-on, Middlesex 2nd XI beat Essex 2nd XI by 21 runs, with Tom Helm and Nathan Sowter taking three wickets apiece.

After visa issues prevented him from taking up an opportunity at Middlesex, Anshy Rath appears to have quit Hong Kong cricket to play in India’s domestic system, in the hope that he could go on to play for India.

My usual pen and paper averages for the second XI.

It is possible to get the 2nd XI averages from the official Middlesex club site, but I'm not sure if they include all friendlies, so this is the whole lot- championship, 50 overs, 20 overs and friendlies all lumped together as half a dozen lists is too much for me. I've rounded things up to the nearest 10 runs, so I don't pretend these stats are 100% accurate but I've done my best and they do give a reasonably good guide as to who had a good campaign.

Batting-

Robson 600 runs @ 50- 3 hundreds, 2 fifties
Lincoln 900 runs @ 36 (1+6)
Cracknell 550 @ 33 (1+1)
De Caires 570 @ 52 (2+3)
Scott 550 @ 55 (2+2)
Davies 820 @ 25 (1+3)
Gubbins 580 @ 44 (2+1)
John 290 @ 26 (0+2)
White 630 @ 35 (0+3)
Hollman 540 @ 28 (0+3)
Holden 890 @ 40(3+4)
Andersson 530 @ 44 (1+3)

Bowling-

Bamber 55 wickets @ 23
Walallawita 51 @ 33
Hollman 23 @ 48
Sowter 20 @ 21
Rayner 17 @ 18
Rishton 21 @ 24
Cullen 18 @ 23
Barber 36 @ 37

Andy Rishton will be 25 by the start of te 2020 season, which would be on the late side for a first contract, but we seem to like him, as he made a fair number of appearances.
