None in either squad. And of course none in the Test squad either.
How are the mighty fallen.

I imagine that a few Middlesex players were hopeful of being included in England Lions’ squads for their tour of Australia. The likes of Sam Robson, John Simpson and Tom Helm all did well in 2019, although maybe whoever selected the Lions squads didn’t feel that those players could benefit much by playing for the Lions, or maybe they don’t see those players ever playing for England (currently, Robbo and Simmo would be a long way from the England side, but Helm can’t be a million miles away).

The four-day squad contains two players named ‘Ollie Robinson’, namely the Kent wicket-keeper and the Sussex all-rounder. As well as having the same name, they both share a birthday of 1st December, were both born in Kent, and both came through Kent CCC’s youth system. Mercifully, they were born in different years and have different middle names. I am certain that a lot of people will be hopeful that scorecards will show those two players combining for some dismissals.

Someone noted that the first and third named Munster substitutes the other day were both called Byrne. If only, someone else said, they could have loaned in Benoit Baby from France to be the second.

This, of course, means a cut in revenue for us. David Kendix has made it clear, year on year, how important it is to our balance sheet to have international call ups.
