Good signing I think!

Me too! A genuine all rounder.

Did Mitchell ever actually play for Surrey? He was supposed to be their overseas player in 2018(?) but injury forced him out for at least part of the season.

If he did ... well, nobody's perfect.

He hasn't played any county cricket which surprised me.

No, never played for Surrey Adelaide. His recent performances for The Perth Scorchers were fairly modest apart from one exceptional knock of 93* in 41 balls, but of course, he has an impeccable, pedigree, with both his father and brother playing at the highest level whilst his sister was an outstanding basketball player. Welcome and good luck Mitch.

I see what you've done
Nobody's Perfect, Some like it hot, Perth Scorchers

Ha! I'm not clever enough to have thought of the Scorchers bit. If I had it might have rivalled Benny Hill's triple entendre in his song about Ernie.

Marsh has been signed up by both Surrey and Glamorgan in the past, only for injury to mess things up. Let's hope this is third time lucky for him.

He did ok for Aussie today, 19 off 14 balls but they were a little becalmed at the time. Old Mx player Agar took a hat trick.

As Middlesex will enter the T20 Blast in 2020 without AB de Villiers, Dawid Malan and Paul Stirling, I was hopeful that we would sign a top-class batsman specifically for this competition instead of simply selecting Peter Handscomb. Therefore, it is great news that we have signed Mitchell Marsh. We will have to see whether this will be the springboard to us making a second successive venture to the knockout stages. If we are able to qualify, then that would be a significantly greater achievement than in 2019 due to this winter’s departures.

In 2019, Nathan Sowter, Steven Finn, Tom Helm, Toby Roland-Jones, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mohammad Hafeez and Tom Barber bowled 1,481 of the 1,541 balls in our Blast campaign, as we rarely went beyond our five main bowling selections or employed the tactic of having four main bowlers and making up four overs with part-time bowlers. However, although I imagine that we will once again enter each match with five main bowlers in 2020, I can see Marsh doing some bowling, in which case we won’t feel obliged to make a bowler deliver their whole allocation in the event of the opposition taking a liking to their bowling.

I was worried that the fact that Marsh has now returned to the Australia side (his appearance in a 107 run T20 win v South Africa today was only his second international since December 2018) would scupper our chances of signing him, but thankfully not.

It would have been nice had de Villiers returned, but the February 2020 edition of The Cricketer said that although he hopes to play for us again at some point in the future, he wishes to take a rest after playing in the IPL in 2020 due to his hope that he can play for South Africa at the T20 World Cup later this year. Therefore, it would feel a bit disappointing if a suggestion I read in an article on BBC that he could play for Welsh Fire at this year’s Hundred proves true, although I probably wouldn't feel bothered to hold it against him. South Africa could certainly benefit from de Villiers coming back to their side!

Certainly strengthens our options. As Talliman opines. He did ok in the demolition of Saffers yesterday. Already dreaming of Edgbaston 2020. The Rose Bowl seems a lifetime ago.

It will be interesting to see what Middlesex’s batting order will be in the T20 Blast in 2020, with the issue of who our openers will be being especially interesting.

The players on whom I am pinning a lot of my hopes on our ability to score runs will be Eoin Morgan, Mitch Marsh, and two players who enjoyed some great moments in our campaign in 2019 in Stevie Eskinazi and John Simpson. I would have thought that Eski will fill one of the opening berths, with maybe Morgan coming in at 3, Marsh at 4 and Simmo at 5 or 6, with our other opener being someone like Nick Gubbins, Max Holden, Sam Robson or Robbie White. Simmo could open, but I would have thought that we would prefer him to hopefully not come in until the latter part of the innings, as that is where his batting was effective in 2019. I also would have thought that we will be reluctant to ask Morgan or Marsh to open the batting considering they have tended not to perform this role.

Especially as he had to come in and attack from the off.

Speaking to ECB Reporters Network, Steven Finn says that he is hopeful that Middlesex can reach Finals Day in the T20 Blast in 2020.

From Mitch Marsh to Mandy Rice-Davies, this thread has come along way, but strangely enough, the now-deceased Mandy did have a connection to Middlesex ccc, does anyone know what that was?

36 off 45 for Mitch today was a useful contribution.but his failure in advantageous conditions to become the finisher will count against him.
Any offers on The Mandy mystery yet or in her own immortal words ''We couldn't give a flying @#$%&''
