I know Kent's reserve keeper Adam Rouse has announced he's leaving cricket.
I'm not sure what Kent's wicket-keeping resources are like, but I suppose a good performance from R Whites lemonade might impress Kent at the right time.

Sam Billings and Ollie Robinson the Younger aren't too shabby as options.

When Robinson made runs in the first round, our Kevin regaled us with how he had been unplayable when Middlesex played Sussex. Sometimes the commentators seem to have a touch of the Alexa about them. They hear a phrase and out comes the pre-stored response.

When our friends's Alexa failed to come up with the answer to a simple question about the time of the next 125, I told it (her?) it (she?) was useless. A few second later - "Thank you for your feedback".

Adelaide

That would be the one Adelaide when we made 75 after Malan insisted on a toss and elected to bat after a fair bit of rain. Slight error when we could have bowled first without a toss.

Including Joe Cracknell we have four spare keepers chunky. So plenty of choice for the oppo. That includes Esky.

There isn’t much to say about Middlesex’s performance today. I suppose that there are worse outcomes than losing one wicket when faced with 9.3 overs.

The forecast isn’t good for tomorrow afternoon, but it isn’t bad for the rest of the match, although we will have to see whether the main plot of this match is the battle for bonus points, or whether a result is possible.

As well as Sam Billings and Ollie Robinson, someone else at Kent who has often kept wicket throughout his career when not posing for photographs is Jordan Cox.

Stuart Law has given his assessment of some of Middlesex’s batsmen:

That interview cuts off as if there was more of it.

I wonder what was said that was deemed as surplus.

I reckon the best bit will be whatever was edited out at the end!

Was it K. Hand doing that? Sounded like it.

Well done so far to Robbie White.

That's 30 at least Tom Lace will need to make in his first outing for Gloucestershire t prove we were wrong to let him go.

123/6 at close, White has made his highest score for Middlesex. Simmo well caught in the last over.

What will be interesting is whether in the next match Stuart Law reverts to the previous format of four specialist batsmen when Gubbins returns - and if so, whether Robbie keeps his place, and at who's expense.

Well done to Robbie White and Jack Davies on so far being joint-top and third-top scorers respectively. However, it would have been nice had they had to have needed to have scored more runs to achieve these distinctions.

I imagine that Middlesex’s aim at the moment will be to get to 200 and then see whether we can possibly get more batting points in addition to that. We have so far faced 61.5 overs, by which time teams often have either already passed 200 or are close to doing so, but as our run rate for much of our innings has been around 2.00, we have a long way to go.

It would be a great achievement if we could force a win from this position.

Jonathan Winsky very unlikely that Middlesex can force a win from this position

Chunky you are.still failing to grasp the crux of this matter

it is not about Tòm Lace neediing to scoring more than Robbie White to prove your point that he will not be missed..

White and Lace should BOTH be playing for Middlesex instead of the underperforming favourites Eskinazi, Robson, even Simmo Etc

I don't want quitters at the club.

You know- people who walk out with over 2 years on their contract.

If they do that, they've told me what I need to know.

Re: Kent v Middlesex, 15-18 August
Seaxe_man1 16 August, 2020 20:06
Harris plus bowlers left. I seem to recall chunky you were keen on Johnson as Head Coach and give Rayner another four year deal. Not the way forward. Face it mate we are and have been a poor side for quite awhile Lot of work to pull us up by the bootstraps. Good luck to SL on that task.

Re: Kent v Middlesex, 15-18 August

I would not have advocated a four year deal for Rayner- more like 2.

I know you're a Sowter fan. Nothing wrong in that- but he is a leg spinner, as is Luke Hollman.

Can't see both in the same side, and Walallawita already producing better results than Sowter in 4 day cricket (admittedly from a small sample size)

So- Rayner off break, Walallawita SLA and Hollman leg break 3 different spinners.

Sowter and Hollman seems odd and unlikely to work. Leggies tend to be more expensive (Warne excepted) so I don't see how both could get in the same side..

If we're talking producing home grown talent a couple more years of Rayner till Hollman was ready made sense,

No idea if Hollman will make the grade though. At the moment he opens the batting for North Middlesex and looks like maybe he might be a genuine all rounder or maybe even a batsman who bowls a bit (despite being taken on for his bowling promise)

Who knows- none of us are fortune tellers!

By my count Fozzie we have only four specialist batsmen. So they select themselves. At Radlett, so, could be two spin options and to accommodate Robbie White looks like bowler has to go as the batting needs bolstering. Robbo , Holden, Gubbo, Esky, Andersson, White, Simmo, plus four bowlers gives five with Andersson. Lilan will play with three outa of Helm, Murtagh, Sowter, Harris, TRJ, Finn, Bamber. Murts due a rest? Tough call. TRJ helps batting, Bamber, Murts if he is ok with that looks ok.

White has now doubled his previous best for Middlesex and achieved his highest FC score. Currently 70*

185/6 but new ball is near.

Richard Dawson has just asked Ryan Higgins if he's got Robbie White's phone number.
