Despite having the black away shirt for over a year now, last night's win was the first victory for the Imps in that shirt. City's fans have thought the shirt was jinxed and that the club just couldn't win whilst playing in that shirt but last night's win over Hereford changes all that.

The shirt was first worn in the trip to Chester last season and despite taking a 2-0 lead in the first half, the Imps conceeded a last minute penalty and it ended 2-2. Just over 2 weeks later and City travelled to Rushden and Diamonds, battered them only to concede a late(ish) goal and finish 1-1. The unforgetable evening at Fulham again saw City concede an extremely late goal to lose 5-4 (starting to notice a pattern yet?).

Mid-October saw a trip to Leyton Orient and the tables were turned as City scored the equaliser but couldn't find the winner. A few days later and Tranmere beat City 2-1 in the LDV Vans first round. City lost by the same scoreline in the FA Cup at MK Dons are again conceeding a late goal to draw at Northampton just over a week later.

Yet another late equaliser stopped the Imps from winning at Wrexham and that was the final time that City played in the away kit until last night when the Imps almost conceded a late equaliser again but held on for a valuable 2-1 win.

This could prove vital in upcoming weeks as it is believed that unless colours clash, City have to play in the away kit due to sponsorship money. Funnily enough, the only teams that clash with City's away kit are Darlington, Notts County and Grimsby, however, they also clash with the home kits meaning that a 3rd kit will be used, most likely the yellow one from the 2001/2 and 2002/3 seasons.
