Has Mayo played his last game in the red of white?

Paul Mayo is being heavily tipped to be one of the 4 new signings revealed by Notts County tomorrow morning. Paul rejoined the Imps 2 years ago from Watford but has fallen out of first team plans. The defender had been in fine form heading into the playoffs but was then inexplicably dropped to make room for "hoof" Nat Brown.

Mayo against ScunthorpeSteve Thompson, former City player and manager, now in the hot seat at Notts County, has revealed that he has been in negotiations with a former Championship defender with the wealth of playoff experience and that description fits Paul Mayo perfectly.

Thompson hasn't hidden his admiration for Mayo's skills in recent years and when he found of that City had only offered Mayo a one year deal, he jumped at the chance to offer him a deal.

If the moves does come about then it will be a good move for Mayo, often used as a scape-goat by a section of fickle Imps fans. When Mayo made a mistake or hoofed the ball, he was booed but if it was Nat Brown or another defender then they were applauded, that's just how pathetically Lincoln fans treated Mayo.

The move would end Mayo's second spell at Sincil Bank after returning from Watford 2 years ago.
